BRETAGNE sailing from Saint-Malo, since 1994

BRETAGNE was originally built in 1989 for the service Plymouth to Santander, she was intended to replace the QUIBERON on this service, since 1994 when the VAL DE LOIRE was introduced, she was transferred to the Saint-Malo to Portsmouth route, she is seen here sailing from Saint-Malo last Friday, the 26.6.2015, for more photos and posts about this fabulous ship, visit my blog here

CAP FINISTERE leaving Portsmouth

The beautiful and sleek CAP FINISTERE departing from Portsmouth to Spain, captured from the arriving BRETAGNE. CAP FINISTERE returned recently to service after refit in Santander, apart from several improvements on the ship inside and out, the most notorious changing is the installation of scrubbers on the ship, she's lost her iconic wings on the funnel, the new one is slightly larger to accommodate seven massive scrubbers, the removal of the wings had the purpose of reducing weight, crucial for the operation, not as smart admittedly but still an impressive cruise ferry. Cruising on NORMANDIE

I was back on board NORMANDIE yesterday for another trip from Portsmouth to Ouistreham, took the 14.45 sailing, the ship arrived about 20 minutes late and left Portsmouth about the same 20 minutes after scheduled time, despite bunkering and a very busy Port activity yesterday, with the PONT-AVEN arriving from Spain and the cruise ship MINERVA also in Port, sailing at the same time as us. The crossing was very smooth with calm seas and beautiful sunshine for most of the voyage, we were nearly 500 passengers on board, it was good to see the people busy soaking up the sun, eating, enjoying entertainment and just socializing, summer is back, for me it was business as usual, a terrific meal at the DEAUVILLE and many, many photos, on board NORMANDIE for the fourth time this year, 23.6.2015

"Reading Lounge" on board BAIE DE SEINE"

Decorated with nautical motifs, the "Reading Lounge" on board BAIE DE SEINE" is a real must to relax with a book, soak up the view, or do just nothing but away from the crowds, by far my favourite room on the ship, reminds me of the countless times I have expressed my disappointment for the BF cruise ferries lacking this facility, specially on the long crossings to Spain.
