BRETAGNE at portsmouth

BRETAGNE at Portsmouth last October, momentous occasion for me as I was getting ready to travel on her for the 40th time. Today, or back in 1992 when I first sailed on her, the same emotion, stepping aboard one of the most beautiful and popular Cruise Ferries that have sailed and will ever sail in European waters. NORMANDIE entering Portsmouth

Breakfast is served on the DEAUVILLE Restaurant, on board NORMANDIE

Just two weeks ago I was sailing on BRETAGNE and a passenger on the opposite table just mentionned to me, we always make sure that we take the night crossings so that we don't miss the breakfast in the morning. BF has been serving glorious food for decades now, it's always a treat to be a guest on their restaurants on board. The photos here were taken aboard NORMANDIE yesterday during breakfast, 16.9.2014

Back on board NORMANDIE

I have not been here for a while, my apologies for that but I'm back and hopefully with a lot of new material that regulars of this blog will appreciate. Seen here ready for sailing out of Ouistreham is the 1992 built NORMANDIE, photos 16.9.2014

"BRETAGNE" ready for sea at Portsmouth

The magnificent "BRETAGNE" remains a Firm favourite for passengers on the popular service Portsmouth to Saint-Malo, she is nearly 25 years old and will be kept in service by BRITTANY FERRIES until spring of 2017 when a brand new ship will be introduced on the UK/Spain route, sending the now flagship "PONT-AVEN" to the route now operated by "BRETAGNE" which in the meantime should be sold, the current Flagship will bring additional capacity for this popular route. "CAP FINISTERE" arriving Bilbao

Fresh from a new coat of paint, the magnificent "CAP FINISTERE" is seen here docking at Santurtzi/Bilbao at the end of another 24 hour crossing from Portsmouth in the U.K.. The ship stayed in port for 2.45 hrs and was ready once again to go back to Portsmouth with 400 passengers on board. "CAP FINISTERE" was bought in 2010 and since then has been operated by BRITTANY FERRIES on their Spanish service with weekly departures from Portsmouth to both Bilbao and Santander, she calls every monday morning to Roscoff for changing the crew.
