"NORMANDIE" at Portsmouth

The beautiful "NORMANDIE" starting another crossing from Portsmouth, destination as always CAEN, something she has been doing now for twenty years, one of the most beautiful cruise ferries ever to have sailed the English Channel. Photos at Portsmouth, 31.10.2012

  1. Fantastic blog! Looked for Brittany Ferries, got here, and stayed half a night, reading this one and your other blogs. Ferries are my childhood, life and passion and it's great that there's a site like this dedicated to them. Half of my family used to work for Polferries, did you do anything on that company perhaps, or will you do in the future ? :)

BTW when did you take those pictures you presented in this post?

    They look kind of older.
I agree with Bretagne completely. This ship has some amazing charm and the feel of good old "classic" ferries. I was actually surprised that it still looks so "vintage" in design, as there is this mania of "modernising" everything, not necessarily making them look better. I've seen some Scandlines or Stena ships and you can't even feel that you are on a ship cause it all looks like a contemporary art gallery :/
Normandie is also among my favorites.
Seeing these two brings back my childhood memories, when polish ferries were like a gate to another ( western ) dimension ;) ... and considered a very top of ellegance and service :)
Found these two albums of Bretagne and Normandie interiors, maybe you would like to have a look :)
